what is the definition or description of: eardrum scar?

Myringosclerosis: That is the technical term to describe a scar on the eardrum. It is an area of thickening of the ear drum. It will appear much whiter and opaque instead of thin and translucent. There can be areas of excess thinning of the ear drum as well, which is called a monolayer. That is often found when there has been a hole in the eardrum that heals with one layer instead of the normal three layers.

Ruptured ear drum: Recurring perforation less likely to heal without surgical intervention. Best to consult ENT. Keep ear dry. Do not smoke.

See an ENT: Scarring of the eardrum (myringosclerosis) is common in people who have had ear infections or surgery and rarely causes hearing loss by itself. Conductive hearing loss occurs for many reasons, most of which can be fixed. You should consult with an ENT specialist to get a better idea of what can be done to help you.
