Time to see dr: The medicine you are using is just a topical anesthetic which is not treating anything but just trying to hide symptoms. That's the problem with OTC remedies - most people don't know what they are really treating. When you say ear infection = outer, middle or inner ear? Treatment is different depending on where infection is. Who made that diagnosis. Sounds like time to see the doctor and get help!

: The Eustachian tube blockage that allowed mucus accumulation that enabled/fed the germs in the one ear infection is likely present on the other side. You just did not have germs migrate up the tube on the other side and cause an infection.
