i can't sleep because my ear itches! could this be related to stress?

Unlikley: You can try some mineral oil in the ear before you sleep (assuming there is no hole in the ear drum). There is also a nice prescription medication for itchy ears called dermotic oil.. Your primary care could prescribe or your local ent.

Itch with no rash: Yes, you can have severe itching from stress.However, you also need to rule out other medical problems. You should see a dermatologist to help calm down the itchng, look for other causes and rule out other diseases.Certain diseases such as kidney and liver problems can cause itching with no rash . Also, lymphoma can make you itch and not have a rah. These are a few things that need to be ruled out.

Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Do not scrtach the ear canal. The skin is a natural barrier to infection. Scratching can lead to an outer ear infection.

A few possibilities: You may be allergic to the material of the ear rings. Do all ear rings  cause the same trouble. Or just certain ear rings? Other possibility is that you may have developed mild chronic infection at the piercing sites. I believe it would be worthwhile to make a trip to a dermatologist.
