Congestion: If you have nasal congestion with it, it can affect your ear pressure. Treat the congestion and take a decongestant an hour before flying. If you have nasal allergies, get them treated too.

Find the cause: Ear pain can caused by many different things. The best way to cure the ear ache is to make sure you are treating the right cause. I often have patients with ear ache and the cause is something that they weren't expecting (like a problem with their jaw joint).

Ear ache: Greetings. Ear aches can be quite painful and disruptive. I have treated patients with infections of the outer ear (swimmers ear)  middle ear like an acute otitis media or jaw problems (TMJ). Referred pain to the ear and inner ear problems all exist. Other causes of pain are possible.
