Good question: Men are fortunate to have a long urethra so bacteria from partners anus are unlikely to reach the bladder or prostate. Bacteria are also flushed out with urination after sex. However distal urethritis is more common after anal sex than after vaginal or oral sex.

Use lots of proper lubricant, use condom, take it slow - stretch yourself step by step to avoid tears. Gentle, non sharp or too inflexible insertions only! However if you insist on having anal sex a condom should be used to protect against the spread of infections &amp; possible pregnancy from semen deposited near the vagina. A tear in the skin can also occur. Therefore lubrication &amp; very good hygiene should be used. I wish you &amp; your girlfriend well!
