Around Day 14 +/-: Most women ovulate around day 14 of their monthly cycle.  The cycle starts on the first day of her period.  This is day 1.   Sperm can hang around waiting for the egg (ovulation) for up to 3 days after intercourse.   There is some variation in all of this from couple to couple.  Best wishes!

Not necessarily: Sperm can survive up to 6 days, so even though you are not ovulating now, you are at risk if it happens sometime in the next week.  It is unlikely that you can be certain that will not happen.  Don't take chances unless it will be OK if you get pregnant.

Some will be alive: Nobody knows how long a specific person's sperm will survive in a specific person's body, on a particular day, amongst certain activities... which means it's all an unknown (so, maybe 3-7 days). One can avoid worrying about sperm lifespans, by either using contraception properly if not wanting a baby, or by having sex daily for several days around ovulation time if wanting a baby.

See answer: In general, sperm can survive in the vagina for 1-2 days but up to 5 days in the right environment such as the cervix and uterus. The egg, on the other hand, has a life span of about 12-24 hours. Therefore, fertilization could occur with the sperm from either of the 2 ejaculations.

No: The morning-after pill works by delaying ovulation.  Sperm hang around for several days but no pregnancy will occur if ovulation is delayed until the sperm are all gone.
If an egg is already there, the morning after pill doesn't prevent fertilization or implantation.   The good news is that the egg is viable for a short time, not days and days.   Best wishes!

: No, they should not. There are certain medications which can affect the fetus after the conception if those are continued to be used such as ACEi or ARB for blood pressure. With some medications such as mycophenolate, isotretinoin, etc. you have to sign a paper to confirm that you will not get pregnant when taking them but not benzodiazepine or NSAID &amp; narcotic analgesics.

Infertility: There is no peer reviewed data that has demonstrated causation of metronidazole with implantation or fertilization.

i am from india. since egg will be available for fertilization only up to 24 hours , chances of getting pregnant from sex 2 days(48 hours) after ovulation is zero? that is the logic. correct?

Accepted Answer

: A released egg will be able to be fertilized for 24-48 hours, but sperm can remain viable for multiple days, so exposure to sperm even before release of the egg will extend the "fertile period" accordingly to five or six days.  If ovulation times are regular and occur fourteen days prior to the next period, one can plan for conception by sexual exposure 3-4 d prior to ovulation and 2 d after.
