Recurrent back pain: this is probably a recurrent back injury. However, you have to be careful. Particularly, if it continues to come back. I would worry about a kidney stone or infection that can sometimes mimic muscular back pain.. also you have to worry about more serious causes of back pain like spinal cord stenosis.if you are having recurrent back pain for three months or longer go to the doctor

Muscle strain: There are several joints and intervertebral discs in the spine.  These can wear out over time leading to pain.  Degeneration of the joints or discs can cause back pain.  You can also get back pain from a muscle strain.  In some cases pain in the middle of your back could be related to chest conditions or your heart so be sure to see you physician.

: With cardiac or lung problems there would also be some chest discomfort or breathing symptoms with physical exertion. If symptoms occur only when lying quietly supine and not during activity I favor a tension type symptom involving focussing on the chest wall. If you feel this applies to you,  you could consider stress management coaching if the symptom persists.

Chest pain: Not exactly sure what is causing your chest pain, but at 59yo i would recommend you have it evaluated asap by  a dr. To assure it is not cardiac in origin.  Good luck.

Costochondritis: If it hurts when you push on it, and it is near your breast bone, then inflammation of the joint between your ribs and your breast bone, aka costochondritis is possible. If the problem does not go away, call your doctor!

Yes...: If it's acute, rest for the first 1-2 days. This controls your symptoms and reduces any swelling in the area of pain. Apply heat or ice to the involved area. In general it is a good idea to use ice for the first 2-3 days, then use heat. while sleeping, try lying on your side, curled up with a pillow between your legs. When sleeping on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees.
