i can not figure out why i have anxiety. i do not feel stressed etc. i have numb/dull ache in left arm shoulder.my heart feels like it drops. any idea?

We can live with: stressors so long that we do not consciously sense them but our body reacts to them.  Please see your doc to rule out medical conditions.  A clinical psychologist can help you identify and manage stress.  Lifestyle issues are important.  How is your diet, exercise level, amount of sleep, etc.  Peace and good health.

Spine: Sounds like cervical disc narrowing or inflammation. Use anti-inflammatory and heat. If no improvement talk to your md.

Need exam: At your age this could be many things so an examination if symptoms continue is indicated. Tennis elbow( tendinitis), carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar n. Entrapment @ elbow ( cubital tunnel); radicular pain from a disc prob.In neck, thoracic outlet syndrome etc .Are all in diff. Dx.Now w/o a detailed hx and exam to go on... See your md for eval. And possible referral to specialist if sx.S continue !

Muscle strain: Possible a muscle strain or rotator cuff injury.  It depends on how long this has been going on and if there was any inciting trauma such as lifting or carrying something heavy which could have brought it out.  I'd say more info and having a doctor evaluate it is the best course of action.

Rotator cuff pain?: Several conditions of the shoulder area can cause pain radiating down the arm. The most common condition is a rotator cuff tear or impingement or a tendonitis. Occasionally a pinched nerve in the neck can cause shoulder pain radiating down the arm. In this case raising or elevating the arm/shoulder is not painful(as opposed to a rotator cuff problem). Some pain issues: the location and movement of a pain gives clues as to what is going on. There are nerves that run from the shoulder outward (brachial plexus). mostly they are injured from obvious causes like car accidents and severe arm pulling. Thoracic outlet syndrome is when bones at the top of the ribcage rub these nerves. Generally with signs of circulation problems in arm.

Radiating: The pain in the arm and shoulder might be due to impingement or pressure on a nerve root as it exits the cervical spine, pressure on the nerve in the axilla (armpit), or trauma to the shoulder components ("rotator cuff").  These are the most common  causes.
