Ducolax -depends on: product. Dulcolax  Laxative Suppositories can reportedly lead to bowel movement as quickly as 15 minutes.  Dulcolax Laxative Tablets usually work overnight (6 to 12 hours).

Not harmful but why?: Why would you take Dulcolax once a week and why on sunday?  Dulcolax is a stimulant laxative which should only be used for significant constipation, when other means (hydration, fiber, stool softeners) haven't worked. Overuse (much more frequently than once a week) can be dangerous. Are you taking more than 1 tablet?

Um, way noooo.: It's a bowel stimulant. You don't want your gut to spasm. Will be painful. If you are that constipated, attack it from a different angle: Aggressive hydration 64oz or 1.9L water per 24 hours, fiber (with water or can be constipating) fruits, veggies, lentils, whole grains, low fat yogurt with live active cultures. If trying to flush everything out (like for weight loss) same goes.  Plus enemas.

i took dulcolax for 9 days because i didn't know it said to not take it for more than a week. might something bad happen?

Probably ok: It likely is ok, however prolonged useage of any stimulant laxative is ill advised.  Switching to a different medication such as MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) for constipation would be a safer alternative.  Better yet, try a natural method such as prunes or apricots.

: It would better to adjust your diet rather than relying on a laxative. You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.
