Diet first...: I would suggest trying to change your diet first before and foremost. Very important to drink plenty of water and maintaining a high fiber diet, meaning lots of fruits and vegetables. You may also try prune juice, oatmeal, and Karo syrup. If your symptoms don't get better with this approach then it is time to get a formal evaluation and check for causes of constipation.
