currently, my sgpt level is 108u/l. i don't take alcohol. i lead a normal lifestyle. how can i reduce this level to a normal level?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the level is not too high. Do not take acetaminophen. You may repeat the test in 3-6 months as it may be a transient issue.

Alcohol: Alcohol calories are usually carbohydrates. But these are unneeded and not nutritional carbohydrates. So, when the liver sees this much sugar they make triglycerides, or fat storage molecules.  Thus this sugar is made into fats that can be dangerous.

Yes: Certain cultures, especially those with asian descent can actually be extremely sensitive to alcohol, even in small amounts.

Cutting down is hard: For someone with alcohol dependence or alcoholism cutting down is likely harder than stopping completely and usually does not work well. People without drinking problems rarely would ever even think they need to cut down. Sometimes they may be able, but most recovering alcoholics will tell you they tried again and again and could not succeed, the craving was to strong after the first drink.

Alcohol: Effects depend on the amount consumed. Small to moderate consumption causes reduced risks of blood clots , stone formation , diabetes & rheumatoid arthritis.  Large consumption causes impaired memory & vision, anemia, cardiomyopathy, hepatitis, cancer mouth/esophagus, gastritis, pancreatitis, diabetes type 2, depression, anxiety, psychosis, insomnia, panic, cravings.

No it isn't: A beer, glass of wine or a single alcoholic cocktail  isn't bad provided it does not make you intoxicated. In fact, red wine contains anti-oxidents which may be extremely  healthy. However any, even a little alcohol is bad for an alcoholic because they can not control or limit themselves to just consuming  "only a little".

Depends: The NIH says that more than one drink per day for women or 2 drinks per day for men may suggest a problem with alcohol. Cravings are usually defined as thoughts about drinking. These are problematic if you have (or have had) a problem with alcohol abuse. They may also be problematic if they are obsessive and you cannot stop these thoughts. A conversation with your FP may clear up and confusion.
