i am a heroin addict have been for 5 yrs.my question is i have developed a growth of thick dry skin on the bottom of my feet is this from heroin use?

Accepted Answer

No: This is not a side effect of heroin use, but there are many more serous medical issues that can be occurring that are much more serous, even deadly. There are ways to get clean. Please see an addiction specialist who will help.

i have a cut on the bottom of my foot. i also have dry skin on the soles of my feet and they can get very cold. could this be because of my diabetes?

If u have a cut: On the bottom of your foot and are diabetic I suggest you see a podiatrist first and foremost. The dry skin may or may not be a result of autonomic neuropathy. The cold feet may be neuropathy as well, you may feel the feet are cold and they may not be. If they are it could be Raynaud's. 
I would doubt a 17 year old would have peripheral vascular disease ..,yet......

: Tinea pedis (athlete's foot) can start out this way.  Another possibility is dyshidrosis.  You could try an antifungal powder/spray and see if this takes care of the problem.  If it is not getting better, would see your physician.

i have a patch of dry peeling skin on the bottom of my feet and it itches. i'm assuming it's eczema. i want to know for sure and if there's anything i can do to get rid of it?

Options: Could be eczema or fungal infection.

Clarisonic for feet : is great to start with. It really smoothes the skin of the feet, but if not able to get then make an appointment with your dermatologist for stronger Urea based compounds to help.

Eucerine cream: Try Eucerine cream on feet twice a day. When you put it on at bedtime put on socks over the feet to keep the cream on. Avoid soaking the feet in water.

Bubble of dry skin: Several things could cause dry skin with blistering on your feet including dyshidrotic eczema, fungal infections, autoimmune diseases, and friction blisters.  If it doesn't resolve on its own, i would recommend evaluation by a dermatologist.
