i had a sore throat about two weeks ago & now i have mucus along with a dry itchy cough. what could it be?

Dry itchy cough: This time of year, you are likely experiencing allergy symptoms.  These symptoms can include clear mucus from the mouth or nose as well as possibly itchiness in the throat, nose and eyes.  If you feel like you have to clear your throat often, you could also been experiencing a post nasal drip.  Use of a nasal steroid like Flonase and an antihistamine like Allegra can help improve all your symptoms

Probable allergies: Itchy ears could be caused by wax or eczema. Sometimes there is no obvious reason. Prescribed cortisone drops usually are very effective. Sore throat and congested nose could be caused by viruses, bacterias and allergies. Allergies are very common. Tx try Claritin (loratadine) or allegra, but no decongestant like claritin-d/afrin/allegra-d. Decongestants can elevate blood pressure, cause racing heart/insomnia.

Cough: It could be lingering cough from previous infection. It may be asthma, reflux or postnasal discharge causing cough. It could be some more pressing/significant to evaluate further if you have a h/o smoking.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

i have had a sore throat for 5 days, felt better, then got worst last night. feels very dry, irritated and scratchy. my ears just started itching deep inside that i cant reach. i had minor nasal congestion on day 1-4. what could this be?

: Many are viral, some are strep. The only way to determine if antibiotics would be appropriate is to test, which can often be done quickly in the office.

Hay fever: You likely have allergic rhinitis with contact headaches (? sinus infection). The dry throat is from mouth-breathing.   Have you tried nasal steroid?

Viral URI: If you develop fever, chills, difficulty breathing or other systemic symptoms go and see a doctor. Otherwise you have a "cold" and should recover withing a week or so. Hope sooner. Good luck.
