No: But gastric side effects are common with doxycycline.  If you have taken it with food and still get  vomiting, ask your doctor for a substitute.  There is no codeine in doxycycline.

Yes!: Blood oxygen level of 92% is likely at rest and when you walk it should go further down, limiting your activities. The poor appetite relates to infection and also to low oxygen level. Insurance does not pay for oxygen supply until you have 88% or less, although you will be short of breath with effort due to lung issues. Continue close care with your doctor to see resolution of this problem.

Infection: Our body responds to infection in ways that are intended to kill it. Feeling exhausted may be a way to make you rest and avoid spreading it. The antibiotic usually takes several days to help you feel better but even then, you need to complete the Rx and lay low. Call the Dr to get specific expectancies and a possible change in Tx if this is not working. They'll best know your illness.

i took clarithromycin for chest infection for 4 days, my chest got cleared out but i developed tonsillitis.doctor gave me doxycycline for it as i am allergic peniccilin. next day i developed rash all over my body. which antibiotic i am allergic to?

Mgt: There are many causes of a rash, but you may have had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. If you experienced symptoms such as itchiness or wheezing, these are also symptoms of an allergic reaction.
The other causes include viral and bacterial infections. Please ask your PCP, and you may need another prescription for another antibiotic.

Take it with food: Are you the same person who asked a similar question earlier? See that reply. You can take your doxycycline with food, which should help prevent nausea and will not interfere with its effectiveness.

If you still feel sick, see your physician for a possible chest x-ray or sputum culture.
