taking doxycycline for sinus infection. it tears my stomach up and burns up my throat within 15-20 after swallowing the bottle says no antacids 2 hrs before or after taking this med im beginning day 3 of 7 and miserable suggestions please?

: Mention it to your prescriber. There are equaly effective other antibiotics you could take.

: Anxiety medications like Klonopin should be managed by your Psychiatrist. If you are receiving this medication from your PCP please discuss with that Doctor. If you are not confident in your Doctor please see another for a second opinion

i've just taken my antiacid tablet-omeprazole with my antibiotics-doxycycline by accident forgetting that it stated not to at same time as antibiotics?

Nothing will: happen when you made a single mistake....continue your antibiotics and your Omeprazole taking antibitics during the day and your Omeprazole at bedtime.

tick bite for 6 year old 24hrs ago. prescribed one dose of doxycycline. i read this med is not ok for 6 years olds, and shouldnt be given. but np says its ok cuz its just one dose. opinions? shes under 100lbs. why is it typically dangerous?

: The tetracyclines are avoided under age 8 since they can stain permanent teeth &amp; alter bone formation. It is not clear from the post that any antibiotic was necessary, but I would not worry about a single dose used this way. I don't consider it dangerous but also don't consider it necessary with the information provided.

doxycycline hyclate 50 mg twice a day - is this what s making my stools green ?

Probably not...: Stool color is mostly a factor of the food and bile pigments in the digestion process.  More rapid transit of digestive contents which could be related to antibiotic use might produce green colored stools.  Nevertheless, green stools are not an indication of any digestive tract disease, so no worries.

: Very likely but it is generally recommended to have a follow up repeat culture to make sure you don’t have a resistant strain Especially if you still have any symptoms

Doxycycline: The recommended dosage for most illnesses likely to be benefited by its use is 100mg once or twice a day.  You can get 200mg dosages but not sure if there is any added efficacy to taking more than that. Why are you asking this question?
