Dyshidrotic Eczema: Dyshidrotic eczema is a condition in which small, usually itchy blisters develop on the hands or feet or both.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
this blistering type of eczema is twice as common in women than men.
People are more likely to develop dyshidrotic eczema when:
they are under stress
they have allergies, such as hayfever
their hands are often in water or moist
they do cement work.

the top part of my pointer finger near the cuticle is swollen, very sore. its almost like there was a deep blister. also now a small hole is this bad?

Sounds: Like infection, warm compresses and triple abx ointment may help, if worsens, call doctor.

Yes: Lupus can cause deformities of fingers but not joint erosions.

Probably right: It does sound like you have dyshidrosis or eczema of the hands. This is usually treated with topical cortisone creams, decreasing the number of times a day you wash your hands, using a mild soap and rubber gloves with cotton gloves underneath them when you do the dishes. This is usually worse in the winter and better in the summer. You should see a dermatologist.

Fog: Although your labs are normal, both Lupus and Plaguenil can have effects on your brain.

i thought i had paronychia but now along with the cuticle infection there is about 10 wart like or blisters starting to form in the same finger. er??

Herpes? Staph?: It could stil be paronychia with a secondary staph infection. But this also sounds like herpes (called herpetic whitlow when it involves the finger). This would be most likely if you also have newly acquired oral or genital herpes; or your finger were in contact with the oral or genital area of someone with herpes. Get examined ASAP; make sure an HSV PCR test is done (not just blood test).

Most common dx is RA: In someone with this presentation (like you have). Need to be re-investigated as 3 yrs a long time ago.
See a rheumatologist who'll be able to help you most.

Lupus and herpes: There is a blistering form of lupus called bullous lupus. Blisters are large or small, there are many of them and they are distributed evenly on both sides of the body. Herpes is one location, grouped vesicles on a red patch. People with weakened immune systems may have blisters in more than one location. Neither lupus nor herpes blisters have an odor unless infected. Please see your doctor asap.

tendon at the middle finger knuckle slips out of place and hurts too. dr said that it happens because it gets weaker there because of my lupus. agree?

I don't: know  (nor can I find in a MEDSCAPE search a connection between tendon subluxations in the hand in patients with SLE (Lupus! See a Hand Surgeon for an opinion as to how this "pulley" problem can be treated!

Relax.: Many healthy people have a positive ana, for unknown reasons. Some even "toggle" back and forth between positive and negative. If your doctor has ruled out lupus, relax. Your doctor should be able to run some tests to determine the cause of your finger tenderness.
