z-pack caused c diff. does this mean i can never take it again? taken doxy & flagyl with no prob since then, but might need a z pack again eventually.

Not necessarily: You have to use caution with any antibiotic, more over, always take it under a health care provider's supervision. Also, with any antibiotic, it is good to protect your stomach with probiotics. especially, if you need an antibiotic frequently.

Not an allergy: however you may have, or carry C diff bacteria and be susceptible when on antibiotics.
Some suggest probiotics to change your flora and reduce chance of recurrence.

Abx OK.: You may not have C diff again with repeat antibiotics. BUT you should only be given antibiotics for proven infections.  Anyone who gets recurrent ear and sinus infections requiring antibiotics should be evaluated by an ENT or Infectious Disease doc to prevent unnecessary treatment.

Yes: In a small minority of patients, it can cause insomnia.

Accepted Answer

It can.: If you are allergic, any medication can cause an itchy rash that usually starts from 2 days to two weeks after onset of taking the medication.  A z pack is the antibiotic azithromycin.  Please see your doctor immediately if you have developed a rash after taking it.

Yes: The most common side effects of this medication are stomach related, e.g. Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. Increased tolerability has been observed when tablets are given with food.  

Z pack can also cause insomnia.

Dont worry: The at-risk group includes people with 
1- low levels of potassium
2- low magnesium, 
3- a slower-than-normal heart rate, 
4- or people who take certain drugs used to treat abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias. 
Zpack has been around for more than 20 years.  Call your md.There is no long term effect from zpack as related to this story.
Your doctor has to make sure you are not in the high risk.

can a cold and sinusitis cause this extremely salty taste also taking a z-pack mucinex (guaifenesin) tablets and using a neti pot this is day five it just started?

NoNeedToSaltYourFood: All that stuff you mentioned, including your nasal mucus, lung sputum, mouth saliva and whatever else your mucus membranes can cook-up, can and most likely will taste salty.Maybe you're just starting to taste that because your taste buds were blunted to begin with from your stuffy nose or you are now getting dehydrated and the salt content is increasing due to that. In any event, drink more fluids
