i've read that a woman's body temperature rises right after ovulation. by how much does it rise and how long does it remain elevated? would the woman be able to tell if her temperature has risen just by how she feels?

BBT chart: A Basal Body Temperature chart (BBT) is used to detect the subtle effect of the rise in the female hormone progesterone in the second half of the menstrual cycle post ovulation. The temperature doesn't vary much over the baseline, but it will be sustained over the time it is present. You usually are unable to detect the rise just based upon how you feel. The temp should be taken in early a.m daily

Yes: In fact, because sperm can live a few days inside your body, you can get pregnant anytime from a few days before to a few days after ovulation. You don't have to wait for exact day of ovulation in order to try to get pregnant. If you're trying to get pregnant, start taking prenatal vitamins to minimize your risk for neural tube defects eg spina bifida. Otherwise, use protection, preferably 2 forms.

Conception: Fertilzation must be within 12-maybe-24 hours after ovulation, implantation is not sooner than  6-7 days later. Good wishes.

Ok: Although I am not a big fan of basal body temperature charts, you are using them, than typically, the temp drops prior to ovulation and than peaks approximately 36 hours later.  Problem is that by the time you get to peak, the egg is no longer viable or fertilize-able; and many women do not get the initial drop prior to ovulation.  Good luck.

Yes: Although bbts are not a very effective way of timing ovulation; in the classic situation, your temperature drops right before ovulation and than spikes approximately shortly later.  The egg is estimated to live for 12-24 hours so once you see the temperature peak, it is probably to late and you have missed ovulation.  The ovulation detection kits or odk are much more accurate in timing ovulation.

Not necessarily: But thyroid is very easy for your doctor to check and tell you with certainty.

Crinone ?'s: Crinone is progesterone, and primarily used for infertility issues in women with inadequate ovarian progesterone.  Progesterone may slightly raise the basal body temperature, similar to the rise in temperature which occurs with ovulation.

Luteal phase: The second half of your cycle is called the luteal phase.  It can be shorter than 12 days if perhaps you are ovulating early and not making enough progesterone.
