Not healthy: Weight gain is much more complex than intake of wine by the bottle.  Evidence exists that a glass per day is potentially helpful to your health, but none that says higher intake is good.  Weight gain is more related to type of foods (protein, carbs, fat) and the type of physical activity you do.

: Cymbalta's starting dose for chronic musculoskeletal pain / fibromyalgia is 30mg/day; max dose is 60mg/day. For neuropathy, starting/max dose is 60mg. Patients with a history of depression or anxiety with chronic pain benefit treating both. Alcohol may enhance side effects, such as psychomotor impairment and liver damage. Weight gain AND loss are reported as rare side effects by the manufacturer

Many things: Antipsychotic meds effect many brain areas.  Some of them control vegetative functions like metabolic rate. Others control appetite (hypothalamus). Still others (pituitary gland) impact the endocrine system. All these areas can be impacted in some people on ap with resultant weight gain. These areas are monitored regularly if a pt is taking ap's. Weight gain tends to be dose related  & individual.

Not exactly...: I don’t think that donating plasma is the actual cause of gaining weight. The thing is, eating more = weight gain, it’s trivial. So you could say that donating plasma increases your appetite. It’s up to you it you eat more or not.

Weight gain: is not common with Cipralex, but is reversible when med is stopped. 25 lb weight gain is an unacceptable side effect if otherwise unexplained. Good to get checked by your pcp given weight gain. Ask for thyroid and vit. D levels. Suggest you speak with prescribing doc to switch to alternative med not likely to cause weight gain. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. Take care.

There are lots of metabolic reasons to rule out (organ disease like heart, liver, kidneys), insufficiency (thyroid, adrenal, kidney),  more. Often high calorie (but low volume) foods  & drink may add up quickly (3000-3500 extra calories per pound gained).

In general however, foods high in sodium can lead to water retention as can high carbohydrate meals due to the amount of water needed to store carbohydrates as glycogen.  Hormonal and even environmental changes can also affect total body water.  Lastly many medications can lead to fluid retention.
