Get to your Doctor: There are so many possibilites here that there is not enough room to list them.  Some of the possibilites can be quite serious.  Besides a simple muscle strain it could be your gallbladder, heart, lungs, blood vessel dissection/anerysm, neck disc or nerve root just to name off a few. To help figure this out get in to your doctor.

I would never: This medication is not approved for use in pediatric patients fr any reason. As such, the medication may be more risky than allowing the fever to run its course. Fever is a normal body response that allows increased circulation &amp; antibody response during illness. As long as the kid is well hydrated it is not a real threat.

: A stiff neck, or torticollis, could be caused by a muscle spasm or a disc herniation. Without a history of trauma, muscle spasm is the most common cause. However, if associated with headaches and fever, meningitis becomes concerning. Muscle spasms typically take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Muscle relaxers can be prescribed to help. A full medical evaluation can rule out the other causes.
