Many, Yes and No: There are many benefits of taking Vit D3 including preventing many forms of cancer, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis,diabetes,depression &amp; many other illnesses.It also enhances immune function, reducing risk of influenza. It can raise GH levels but no adult can grow after bone growth plates close in adolescence.

Not likely: Vit d is very long acting.  It is stored in fat and liver and it takes a while to get deficient.  Missing 1 day will have no consequence.  The other conditions you list (anxiety, breathing difficulty, chest pain) certainly can be associated with irregular heartbeat.  See your doctor.

Calcidiol : Calcidiol is a substance that is converted in the kidneys to form calcitriol, or 1/25 dihydroxycholecalciferol (1, 25 oh2d). This is a ligand of the vitamin d receptor.  This process is partially mediated by the parathyroid hormone. So, it would be important to know if this patient has an abnormal parthyroid, and if they had low calcium or phosphate levels.  It sounds like this patient has a very complicated picture and hopefully is being cared for by an endicronologist.

Not really known yet: Depression is a complex problem & no one really knows the cause of any type of depression! many people get depressed in winter; it was thought to be due to lack of light but may be due to low vit d- giving d works better than light therapy! there are vit. : No. Menstrual blood loss is a common cause of low iron in women of reproductive age. You may take oral iron and multivitamins to correct the deficiency of iron.

Usually no effect: One must be extremely deficient in vitamin d3 and parathyroid hormone, or calcium itself, to have serum calcium actually go low as a result. Intoxicating yourself with vitamin d3, which probably u won't do, will give you some hypercalcemia if the controls don't kick in well. We have a saying in the lab, "look at the person, not the numbers." glad ur d3 deficiency was found & rx'd; it's too common.

May be factors...: Lots of causes for stress and nervousness, including poor nutrition due to diet, disease, etc. Usually not the root cause, but certainly doesn't help the situation.  Vitamin d deficiency not likely to be directly related to complaints noted. B12 deficiency can cause neutopsychiatric symptoms, not usually the ones you mention. Look for other factors as well.

Check w/your doctor.
