See below: While any medication that increases your metabolism would in theory lesson the effects of oral BCP there are no studies to back this up. As with most other drug interactions with OCPs it is unlikely that diet pills would decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills.

Stemetil and the OCP: Unlikely it would reduce the effectiveness of the pill, but it is metabolized by the liver which can make the liver metabolize pill hormones faster, so to be absolutely safe use a pill hormone recipe that is higher dose or does not need the liver to create the active form of the progestin, such as levonorgestrel, and you could consider continuous use of the hormones. Talk to your doctor as well.

No, it should not: In women taking the birth control pill regularly without missing a pill, then the effectiveness should not be altered by a GI illness.  Diarrhea alone should not affect the pill.  If she is experiencing vomiting (around the time she took the pill) then this might be an issue.  Regardless, the pill is not 100% effective and if there is a concern about pregnancy, then check a pregnancy test!

Possibly: This seemed to happen with some antibiotics - as i recall the bigger concern was Erythromycin class. Because of this i always recommend backup contraception when on and until next pack after antibiotics.

Clotrimazole: Yes, it is clotrimazole. Because it's considered a local/topical treatment, it shouldn't interact with the 21 day pill. The thing to be careful with would be latex condoms/diaphragms because it can cause damage to them.
