can't stop thinking about food even though i'm not hungry. what's the matter with me?

Not clear: This could be emotional or physical craving. To find out which one, you should first see your primary doc to make sure nothing is going on and if that's okay, you should see a psychologist because it may be a form of obsessive compulsive disorder, food addiction, anxiety, etc.

is there anything we can do to prevent late night cravings? thinking about food makes me hungry, is there a way to stop that also?

Accepted Answer

Plan ahead : Eat at three or four specific times per day, instead of eating according to hunger.  Have someone you know pick the healthy and possibly boring foods you are allowed to keep at home so even when you snack it is not too bad and you also will not have the foods you crave the most.  Have a 24 hour blood sugar test to rule out diabetes.  Give yourself a fun mellow activity before bed for comfort.

Fatigue: When someone does not eat they can have low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which causes general weakness, shaking, slow thinking. Eating properly is necessary to maintain energy levels.

Growth spurt: Please go with her to a pediatrician and review the growth curve. Subsequent evaluation and management will tel whether everything is OK or not. Let's hope that all is OK. If that is not the case careful and detailed management will almost certainly keep things under control.

Symptoms: indicate the need for you to see your doctor.  One POSSIBILITY is a thyroid imbalance or other hormonal issue.  Your doc will figure this out and help you.  Peace and good health.

No: Multivitamins don't do that in the U.S.  But, if a person takes the kids' gummy vitamins, he can chew 4-6 of them each day to add up to an adult dose. Because they taste like candy, they are likely to make him want more candy, Gummy Bears, chocolate, or snack foods. This is not a nutritious way to do things, but is likely the only way any multivitamin can make a person want to eat something else

No easy answer: Different people's brains are wired for different levels of appetite.  In addition to today's medications, the one time-tested method of curbing the munchies for most (not all) people is really intense aerobic exercise.  You'll not only burn calories, you'll feel less of an irrational need to overeat.

Secrets: Eat less sugar and more proteins. Eat 200 calories six times per day. No big meals. Grazing with high protein diet.
