More genetics : Most hair loss is genetic, from your parents.  There are a few types of hair loss that may be caused by what you do.  Certain medications you take can cause hair loss.  In addition, certain hair styles that pull on the hair (corn rows, tight pony tails, etc) can cause hair loss.  Too much hair manipulation  too much brushing or hot hair blowing or curling irons & hair straightening not recommended.

Save your money: The side effect is loss of money with no benefit in return. See a better dr if you really have a hair problem&gt; meanwhile you can get minoxidil. It is not wonderful but makes a difference for some people who apply it every day for many months to years. The 2% is cheaper ; nearly as effective as the 5%.

Not related: Differin (adapalene) does not cause hair loss. This is a very unusual situation. Please see your dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Linear hair loss is most often related to trauma of some sort. If the trauma did not damage the hair follicles, the hair should regrow.

Grocapix not same: Grocapix contains red clover extract that is said to be a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, suppressing dihydrotestosterone thereby reducing effects of this hormone on hair growth.This is the way the prescription med finasteride (Propecia) works.  Minoxidil works differently, by improving blood supply to the hair follicles.Tough to say which, if either, will work better for any individual.

no: Just a coincidence.  Hair loss in your age group might be genetic.  Think Finasteride or dutasteride.

Not much known: Not much is known about these two chemicals at this point in time. We will probably know shortly. We do know that rogaine (minoxidil) works well and if the liquid is irritating to your scalp you can switch to the foam which will not cause any irritation.

Yes: Exogenous testosterone can be broken down in the body to a more potent form of the hormone called dihydrotestosterone or dht. Dht can cause hair follicles on the scalp to weaken or shrink causing alopecia (hair loss).

is nizoral (ketoconazole) better than neutrogena t/gel? i heard nizoral (ketoconazole) is good for hair re-growth too

Yes : Otc Nizoral (ketoconazole) helps seborreic derm in scalp better than t/gel. If you're losing hair as a result of the seb derm, Nizoral (ketoconazole) can help. However, it's not used for hair growth per se. If you have bad seb derm best to get an rx of Nizoral (ketoconazole) or anti fungal shampoo to avoid further hair loss. You can always supplement with otc antifungals (head and shoulders, selsen blue) on in btw days of rx therapy.
