Not enough research: Just yesterday, american heart association & american diabetes association published a joint scientific statement on use of non-nutritive sweeteners, including stevia, aspartame, sucralose, etc. Bottomline, not enough human studies to determine good from bad. They have been tested extensively and are believed to be safe, although some people can have some sensitivities to one or another. Then there is stevia, which is plant based.
