No Protein?: Yes. Likely.  If you are not consuming protein you may damage your heart, your kidneys, your brain, and your immune system. And you may damage these things permanently.  Please stop the salad only diet. It may be the worse decision you have made in your life.

No: Dont think so. - False ribs do not cause flatulence or belching. 
 I don't understand the question clearly. Do you suspect you have a false rib? what makes you suspect that.

Maybe not just gas: Bloating, irregular stools, and fullness may reflect diet (check your fiber intake), alterations in the population of healthy gut flora we each carry, food intolerances, maldigestion due to problems of the small intestine, pancreas, or biliary tree, changes in GI motility (how well your GI tract mixes and moves food along), various infections, and even irritable bowel syndrome. Testing is easy.

i have several herniated discs in my lower spine. can they cause intestinal gas/bloating? my doctor said no as the nerve compression is on the spine.

Long D/DX: Bowel obstruction ,Endometriosis, IBS, IBD, Fibromyalgia, Aging  &amp; constipation are some dx, that needs to be considered  with patient w/ low back pain &amp; constipation.
Low impact physical activity, NSAID, high fiber diet with lots of water, Heat or Icepack to the back are some of choices for relief.
If symptoms persist, see a PCP/GI.

With your symptoms and if all your tests are negative, sometimes we make a diagnosis of ibs/ irritable bowel syndrome. Take care!
