my child consumes all liquids through gtube. he is soy, dairy, gluten free. he appears to have thrush in his mouth. what could have caused this?

May be a chance inf: Unless immunocompromised, thrush can appear randomly and should be treated with anti fungal meds.
Good oral hygiene ie. cleaning is of course a good idea.
Do call your pediatrician for the treatment.

Oral thrush: A baby usually gets oral thrush from passing thru the birth canal of an infected mother.

Not likely: While dog bites are problematic for infections, licking is not usually associated with oral or skin infections.

Varies: There are babies that are intolerant to milk based formulas, either to the protein or the lactose sugar. These kids will be chronically fussy, have acidic stools or otherwise a mess. If your kid can eat, digest and act comfortable on a milk based formula it is ok to switch. You might want to review the idea with the doc, some use soy for kids with galactosemia and a change to could be harmful.

is engamil reguline ok to give to g6pd babies? although pediatrician recommended it i am still wary because it has soy in the formula. is it on to give? i need a second opinion?

Depends on situation: Some folks prefer the bovine protein as more human like & there is some question whether the soy lives up to its quality. That said, most kids would never have any appreciable difference in growth/development either way.The exception comes if a kid is intolerant to one. If so, the other product or a specialty formula like alumentum  would be less likely to cause GI symptoms.

my infant has had runny seedy poos for three weeks now and cries a lot after feeds. is it ok to mix/wean soy formula with his milk based formula?

See a doctor: If your baby is really fussy after feeding, see your doctor to make sure there is not a problem- infection, not digesting feedings well, allergy to some component of the formula, or other concerns. Don't change the formula without checking with your baby's doctor.

Absolutely: Alimentum and nutramigen are the first two that are readily available that come to mind. They are a bit more expensive, but very easy to digest and no soy anything. They don't taste as good, so if the baby scoffs at eating them, can put one drop of vanilla in the entire bottle to flavor.

See a Specialist: This is a complicated question that cannot be well answered in only 400 characters.  The problems with formula may be allergy or lactose intolerance or several other things.  You should have the baby tested for soy and milk allergy and you may need to try several formulas before you find one that is well tolerated.  Enfamil AR thickens in the stomach so it is less likely to reflux back up the esop
