Not particulary: You may have an enlarging rash and itching but "long term"?  Just don't put up with it long term!  not all "ring worm" is ring worm.  If you have one, treat it with otc terbenifine (lamisil) for a minimum of 2 weeks.  If persistent or unsure, see your pcp or dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Ringworm clears up: An animal ringworm (tinea or fungal infection) prefers to live in the animal and causes inflammation in skin of humans. This inflammation eventually gets rid of the disease, although it may take months of itchy unsightly rash or hair loss. Treatment is always recommended. Human fungal infection can clear on its own too, but it can be very persistent . Longterm scarring is rare after tinea clears

: Ringworm can be spread by direct contact with the surface of the involved skin. Covering the location diminishes potential for transfer to others. Within days, use of an effective antifungal reduces potential to transfer. By three weeks if it is/was fungal any residual skin changes are likely due to the distortion of skin tone by the germ win no remaining active fungus.

: There are some general feature of healing. When the surface texture is similar to the surrounding skin (no longer raised or rough) it is healing. Ring worm is not that contagious after the first says of proper treatment.

It's name comes from the fact that the fungus tends to cause a circular patch of scaling scan with a slightly raised and redder border making it look like a ring. It can be treated with ordinary otc anti-fungal medications.

These medications, creams and lotions, are usually in the "foot" section of a pharmacy or grocery store.
