Breast or formula ?: Breast fed infants can go a little every feed or overflow a diaper once a week. If it is soft when they go i don't worry about it. Formula fed babies usually have a more predictable pattern of daily stools. If stools are getting hard, i often try full strength prune juice, 1oz once or more/d.Takes about 3d to get things moving.

Natural plugs: Apple sauce, bananas & rice cereal are the main constipators in most infants. Peaches, pears, plums & barley cereal are usually helpful in loosening them.Prune or apple juice(regular adult, not dilute baby) given in amounts of 1-2 ounces 1-2 x/day for a minimum of 3 days will usually loosen a kid.Good luck.

Depends: Try to find out if a particular food is causing this. I've noticed sweet potato, bananas and some cereals often do (but it could be something else). Try to eliminate that food or at least decrease.  If none found, then make sure baby is getting enough liquids and fiber in diet. Then, you can try giving prunes and other fruits in higher amounts. If still not better, talk with your pediatrician.

Good news/bad news: 1st, good news. Congratulations on your baby (i assume b/c you mentioned baby fat). Bad news. Ignore all the hype on radio, tv & internet about some special food or combination of foods to boost or support your digestive immune system. Prune juice can help get your bowels moving again but that's about it. Best to focus on eating healthy diet, exercising regularly & resting while your baby sleeps.
