: A progestin is given (Primolut N) to induce shedding of thickened endometrial lining (withdrawal bleeding, not a post-ovulatory "period"), and Clomid for ovulation induction.  At 35, it might be useful to also ask for a hysterosalpingogrom  (HSG) to ensure tubal patency, which even with induced ovulation is the most common cause of infertility.

Very minimal: If you are very consistent taking the bcp the pg rate is only 1 to 2% at the very most. Of course if you are taking other meds or antibiotics the pill absorption is affected and increases the failure rate.

Micronor (norethindrone): Ortho micronor (norethindrone) (http://www.Drugs.Com/cdi/ortho-micronor.Html) is a progestin-only birth control pill that requires much stricter attention to timing of dose, such as you describe. Under those conditions, it is a very effective form of contraception by preventing ovulation. Some women still get normal periods while on pill but that doesn't imply they're ovulating.

Norethindrone is a progestin (synthetic progesterone).

Hard to tell: Micronor (norethindrone) is a progestin-only (single ingredient) minipill. It is hard to tell if a woman taking Micronor (norethindrone) every day actually ovulates or not. This pill works in other ways to prevent pregnancy. She is probably more likely to ovulate if she is missing pills. If she misses some pills, she can use condoms for the next 2 days (if having sex)... while also taking the Micronor (norethindrone) every day.

Menstrual period: Starting any hormonal medication after or before ovulation can have an effect on your next menstrual cycle. Norethindrone is a component of most oral contraceptives, so it will definitively affect your period.

: No. An egg can be fertilized. The goal of BCP is to stop you from ovulating at all. When this fails you can become pregnant.

If you missed the...: ...FIRST 3 pills, you might have ovulated this cycle.  If you've had sex this cycle, you might have conceived.  Regardless,  since you're having significant abdominal pain &amp; cramping a week before your expected period, you need to get medical care.  Best wishes!

: The typical use failure rate is 8-12% and perfect use failure rate approx1.1%. There are other birth control options w/lower failure rates. Norethindrone prevents ( theorized) pregnancy by thickening the cervical mucous making it impermeable to sperm, changes the Fallopian tube undulations &amp;changes the lining of the uterus thereby making implantation difficult. Failure is % women getting pregnant.

Yes ,  will increase: A synthetic Progesterone , has less side effects than natural one, used for excessive bleeding, regulate cycle , menopausal symptoms , will elevate blood sugar , usually not indicated in diabetics , if used need to adjust diabetic medications.
