Plan B works: Plan b works when taking as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. If you gave birth one month ago then you may have ovulated and pregnancy is possible. It is most effective when taken within 72 hours of intercourse.

If it was your: actual period then it worked. At age 17 - you are really engaging in risky behavior. If you are going to be sexually active would recommend regular use of birth control.

Buy her another dose: Encourage her to be "safer" and consider taking another dose of the hormones in Plan B or to ask for a copper IUD which is another more effective "emergency postcoital  contraceptive" and a better long lasting method of  prevention of pregnancy . The multiple and very significant risks of an unplanned pregnancy outweigh the inconvenience, discomfort and potential side effects of any contraception.

Yes and yes: If you just had a baby a month ago and you have been breastfeeding and you have not had your period you are probably not ovulating until your baby is around 6 months however you can use plan b while breastfeeding and women cannot rely on not getting pregnant during this period of time without taking the normal smart precautions. Please contact your OB/GYN asap to discuss.

Condoms: are only about 90 percent effective.   Plan B is effective, but I dont recommend using it as a contraceptive. It is for emergencies. If you and your girlfriend dont want to create a baby, I would not rely on Plan B or condoms alone. She should get on another form of birth control that has a higher contraceptive rates. AND use condoms as well.

Yes.: It is extremely rare to become pregnant in one and half months after the delivery. It usually takes at least 6 weeks for your ovulation to come back and may take months if you breast feed. Plan B is needed to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex.  So you are fine.
