should it still hurt to pee after the passing of a kidney stone?

Personally different: Stone-related symptoms should subside, fade, &amp; disappear soon but with a widely variable pace depending how long, where, how the offending stone is passed. Most disappear almost instantly but few may linger over 2-5 days; so, it is ok as long as slowly but surely getting better day by day. If longer than usually expected, seek reevaluation for a true stone passage or something else still going on.

Yes you will : 2mm stone most likely you will pass with out any intervention , some times you will have severe pain , along with  small amount of blood in the urine , then you will be fine.

Here is ...: This phenomenon usually results from the presence of stent, which induces a jeking-effect to kidney while its lower end may touch the bladder neck &amp; sequentially transmit such irritation at the end of each urination. Such undesirable effect may ease by changing to a stent of more suitable length, but clinically maybe unnecessary because the timing for such change and a following procedures is same

Test: Be evaluated with an x-ray study to tell if the stone is even passable or not based on its size. Size and location are critical to stone passage.  Obviously drink plenty of fluids and you might even try soaking in a hot bath.  If the stone is.

Urine: Have your urine checked either in urgent care or walk in ER. It may be an infection. Often a stone produces mid back pain and vomiting with blood in your urine. All the best.

i was in the er with kidney stones sunday(including bloody pee).  theyve been moving around the last 2 days and seem stuck at the moment.  now it hurts extremely bad when i take a deep breath.  is that a kidney stone or could it be something else?

Stone and infection: You may have urinary infection in addition to the stones. ER is not the appropriate setting for long term care of your disorder. It would be prudent to talk to you doctor and may need a consultation with a urologist. In the meantime drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless. You may take acetaminophen for pain.

Requires exam and: lab studies, renal ultrasound. Labs should include routine urine analysis, urine culture and sensitivity, metabolic panel and a genital exam. If you are having unprotected sexual relations, you must be screened for STDs.

Normal sensation: You can try using over the counter Azo (Phenazopyridine  hydrochloride) or Rx Pyridium (Phenazopyridine HCl Tablets, and acidify your urine with citrus juices.

Unlikely: Mesalazine  can produce some kidney problems ( allergic nephritis ) but not reported to be a cause of renal stones. Regional ileitis can by a different mechanism. 
If stones recur see a nephrologist for a chemical analysis of the urine to see if you have secondary hyperoxaluria.

i have a kidney stone (5mm) in my bladder. i feel like i have to pee all the time but only go a little but it isn't a bladder infection. what is it?

Accepted Answer

Stone: It's unlikely that a 5 mm stone would remain in a 21-year-old female's bladder for very long.  It's much more likely that the stone is lodged in the distal ureter creating bladder symptoms.  If you've not already done so, i would recommend you see a urologist.
