Weight loss: The veins may be more visible from the weight loss. The benefits of the weight loss however far outweigh the risks of the excess weight. It depends of course how much weight you've lost, when you had the bypass, and your medical conditions.  I would suggest you call your surgeon for a follow-up evaluation and see if they have any suggestions. Hope this helps!

Maybe: The hepatitis c itself won't be a barrier to this surgery. The question will be how much damage there is to the liver. People with cirrhosis are at higher risk for complications from any surgery, including bypass.

Hepatitis : Hepatitis c is not an absolute contraindication to bypass surgery. A lot depends on the current status of your liver function.  Your physician will likely perform liver function tests as part of their evaluation. They may also recommend an ultrasound to evaluate the liver as well as the gallbladder if it is still present. If you have cirrhosis or hepatocellular cancer as a complication of your hepatitis c then you likely have other problems to deal with and bypass surgery is not right for you. If you have normal liver function then there is no absolute contraindication. This is when a conversation with your surgeon is key to understand risks and benefits as they apply to you. Be sure to discuss options in weight loss surgery with your doctor. Lap band and lap bypass are very different surgeries and each has its own risk and benefit.

Bypass surgery: Gastric bypass surgery, and all the surgeries for the overweight, essentially work by decreasing the number and or the amount of calories that you are able to absorb. Each of the several procedures work in slightly different ways. All of the surgeries have their unique complications, so ask your surgeon specific questions.

Gastric bypass: The the bypass is the gold standard for weight loss operations. It's been around for over 50 yrs and is a proven operation. It is the best in terms of overall weight loss. It is a safe operation but should only be done by an experienced gastric bypass surgeon. There are many lap band surgeons out there, but few are good gastric bypass surgeons. I have recommended bypass for family members.

Major surgery: Significant rerouting of the plumbing. It is a combo restrictive (make a small stomach pouch) and malabsorptive (shorten effective absoptive capacity of small bowel). "centers of excellence", with ample experience (not the occasional bypass operator) reasonably safe track record.  Can have significant complications at and after surgery, short and long term. Balance risk/benefits of surg or not.

Depends on behavior: A roux-en-y gastric bypass can be quite effective in weight loss if it is part of a multi-modality treatment process.  This can include support, diet, exercise, as well as the surgery.  Your doctor can guide you in finding a qualified bariatric program, but you must be willing to accept that such a procedure is not the end, and you will have to actively participate in your recovery.
