took advil for period cramps. now i have heartburn and im not sure if its the cramps or advil. what should i do?

Could be : gastric irritation from the advil. Taking less advil or only with food might help.

Advil: can cause this, so take with food in future, antacids can help. If continues or gets worse discuss with your doctor.

Certainly possible: One of the most common symptoms of endometriosis is cramping during periods. It is certainly a possiblity but we can not draw this conclusion based on this limited information

Low risk: Usually cramping and pain from endometriosis increases with time, starts before menses start and persists for several days, and may also involve pain with urination and stooling.   If you have not having cramping every cycle and are getting relief with Advil, it is unlikely that you have endometriosis.

can i take zofran, (ondansetron) and motrin together? am having horrible period cramps and feel like puking, i took 600mg motrin, is not helping. also on prilosec.

Rub A Dub Dub: Yes, you can. Have you also tried soaking in a hot bath? Also try this: lie on your back on the floor next to a couch and place your legs on the seat of the couch (sort of like sitting on a chair but you're in a different position).Lie still and gently rub your lower stomach area, or have someone else do it.Try that after the bath, while your whole body is still warm. Cover yourself to retain heat

im taking uti medicine cefpodoxime pro 200mg one table twice daily for 5 days. i have 3 more days to go and started having period cramps. can i take advil along with this. i usually take 200mg advil every 6-8 hours. or can i take tylenol?

: No known drug-drug interactions and both Tylenol and Advil are commonly used in infections for symptom control along with antibiotics. Drug specific side effects still apply.

my doctor said i'm not supposed to take tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin because of my recent ibs like symptoms. i'm having horrible period cramps. what can i take?

Ibs and cramps: irritable bowel is usually treated with high fiber diet and lots of liquids.  Not sure why your doctor said no to tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin unless he gave you some other med for pain which might interact with the OTC pain meds.  I would have to disagree with your doctor on that one and advise you to take an anti inflammatory drug like Motrin (but always with food to prevent an ulcer or upset stomach)

Magnesium: Menstrual cramps are due to spasm of the muscles of the uterus. Magnesium is the ultimate muscle relaxer. It decreases or blocks the nerve/ hormonal stimulus to cause the uterine muscles to contract excessively.  Magnesium also helps with the inflammatory component of pain.  Increase your intake of magnesium rich foods starting 3-5 days before you anticipate that your period will start.

Can be helped: Yes period cramps can be debilitating for some women, however, it is not necessary to consider these as normal. Contact your GYN for a work up and discuss treatment options.
