Not necessarily: White blood counts can be elevated as a result of an infection or inflammatory process. When this happens it is called a leukemoid reaction and is a normal physiologic response.

Unlikely: An increased white count can occur for many reasons (eg, with infection, inflammation, stress response, etc).  But just because your WBC is up and you happen to have HPV does not mean the two are related.  For your HPV make sure that you are up to date with your gyn exams as this is the best way to prevent HPV related cancer of the cervix.

Says who?: Tasking a cold shower can give you a high white count. If you feel well, the cells are all normal, and the elevation is mild, no further work up is indicated.

Rare things are rare: Most people's white blood cells go up or down in number, depending on the infections or inflammatory diseases that they get, the vast majority of which are temporary. There are 166,000,000 women in the US and less than 14,000 will get cervical cancer in a year... so it's rare compared to the rest of us who get white blood cell changes during the year. That means almost always unrelated.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the elevated white cell count is likely a normal reaction to the trauma of surgery. If he has fever, discharge from the surgical site, pain at the surgical site, then you should consult your doctor promptly.

You're fine: Normal WBC. I trust lymphocyte and neutrophil counts were fine also. Take the prenisone for the poison ivy only if it's so bad you can't sleep otherwise. We're glad to help.

NONE: There are many types of cancers and they have no correlation with white blood cells, unless you're referring to blood cancer known as leukemia, then the white blood cells mightbe either too low or too high, or you might see immature cells that typically are not seen.
