Sorry, nothing OTC: To prevent herpes if you are exposed? If so, is the concern oral or genital? Does partner or family member have HSV1 or HSV2? Or do you have it and want to prevent outbreaks or transmission to others? If so, is your infeciton oral or genital, HSV1 or HSV2? All these make a difference in best prevention. Only prescription meds are effective against HSV. Also ondoms to prevent sexual transmission.

About 70%: Most  sexually transmitted diseases are transmitted by body fluids. On  the other hand herpes is located on the skin of penis and also scrotum, groin, etc. So the condoms will prevent about 70-80% of the cases.

: Herpes viruses do trigger immune system responses, including antibodies and memory cells, but when the immune system is deployed against the virus, it just hides inside of the infected nerve cells and the immune system cannot "see" them nor does the immune system try to attack the nerve cells. Thus the cycle of dormancy and reactivation. The immune system never completely clears the infection.

: There is no cure for hsv but there is antiviral therapy for prevention of outbreaks or to treat actual outbreaks. You can spread the infection from one part of your body by touching outbreak lesions and then touching yourself in another part of your body. Worldwide 90% of people will test positive for hsv1.

Prevention: There is no cure. We can only treat it. Patient is always at risk of sheeding even if asymptomatic.
Incubation period could be 2-12 days, in some cases up to 26 days.   The only way to avoid std is by abstinence.
Latex codom is just a barrier to prevent std, patient can still get or transmit std when wearing a condom. 
Partner needs to see a doctor.
