Not herpes: Herpes does not cause such symptoms. There are many non-professional websites where people claim symptoms like this are due to herpes; pay no attention to them. "Could it be in [your] head?" No distant forum expert can say; you're the best judge. But such symptoms often have a psychological origin; and whenever someone suspects his or her own symptoms are psychological, usually s/he is right.

No i do not believe: that genital herpes can cause total body itching, but rather localized itching. Something else is likely going on

Probably not, but...: This depends on the nature and timing of the pain. If the buttock/leg discomfort is only during a genital herpes outbreak, or starts 1-2 days before, and if it clears up in another 1-2 days, they may be linked. However, herpes doesn&#x27;t cause chronic or persistent, ongoing, deeper back, buttock or leg pain, that doesn&#x27;t accompany outbreaks. In that case, it&#x27;s an entirely separate problem.

i have hsv-2 for many years and have an outbreak now on my anus. i have been having some nerve/muscle pain in my legs since about a day before the outbreak. can the herpes virus cause these kinds of symptoms?

: Your genital (and anal) herpes probably isn't the cause. Some persons with HSV2 report such symptoms, but few herpes experts believe HSV2 is the cause. Neurological symptoms that precede outbreaks generally are limited to the area where the outbreak occurs, and not distant anatomic sites.

when i take a shower, i touched an cold sore with scab cover caused by hsv in lower leg (which is also strange for me. i dont know how i caught it in the lower legs), and then use the hand to clean my penis and glans. will i got genital herpes?

: I know of no HSV infection that would appear on the lower leg. Without having a good idea of what that sore is from it is difficult to speculate where it could transfer.

Many causes: Your pain could represent many things.  Your vas deferens transports sperm from your testicles via your groin.  You may have a hernia if there is a bulge present.  Prostatitis is usually accompanied by fever, pelvic/rectal pain or pain when you urinate.  A burning sensation on your thigh is usually a result of a nerve problem.  I would recommend a physical exam to assess your problem.

Yes it can: Emg/ncv can be done to tell you if there is nerve damage but it won't tell you why.

Herpes : If it's all on the same side of the body you may want to see your physician soon.

Yes: The transmission of herpes is not 100% with contact but increases with any breaks in skin or contact with mucosal membranes.  One could potentially "auto-inoculate" or spread the herpes virus to different parts of their body this way.
