Not normally.: The most common symptoms of a cold are sneezing, running nose, feeling tired, congestion and scratchy throat.  Additional symptoms can be coughing, headaches, mucus dripping down the back of the throat, loss of appetite and fever (in children).

Should see doc asap: It is possible that you have diarrhea-predominant ibs (irritable bowel syndrome), but have some other common symptoms to ibs include bloating, gasiness, frequent/urge to have bm, early satiety, dyspepsia symptoms etc... Without further detail, i can't be for sure. Nevertheless, being 47 and your symptoms = 1yr, i strongly recommend seeing doc at your earliest convenience..

Many things: There are many potential causes of chronic diarrhea. They include infections such as giardia and cryptosporidium, inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease, malabsorption and many others. Get evaluated by an internist or gastroenterologist.

Possibly: Irritable bowel syndrome can be worsened by stress. If the person you were caring for had an infectious diarrhea at some point, you could have caught it from them. If they are older and/or have been hospitalized a clostridium difficile infection would be a definite risk.

Not likely: A problem but make sure you got a screening colonoscopy, make sure not an ulcer and blood causing diarrhea, but periodic diarrhea without wt loss not huge concern.

Usually: If the diarrhea is due to the excess fat in the meal, then I will only last for a little while after the meal. If this is a persistent problem, you might want to try increasing the amount of fiber in your diet. If this persists, then see your primary medical doctor for your gastroenterologist. Good luck.
