Yes: Genital warts are caused by strains of human papilloma virus (hpv) some of which cause cervical cancer, anal warts & cancer, pharyngeal warts & cancer. If you are affected, have your fp check thoroughly for other sites, especially the cervix with pap smear & dna testing to prevent/id cervical cancer early. Hpv vaccine protects against these cancer-causing strains. Discuss with doc.

Yes: The virus that cause warts are part of the human papilloma family -- and skin contact is usually required. Auto-inoculation can also develop. But in general, the virus does not survive well free of a host.

Very low risk: No STD is transmitted &quot;for sure&quot; from any single exposure. Such brief contact probably carries very low risk of transmission. Nobody can say the chance is zero, but it&#x27;s low enough that you shouldn&#x27;t worry about it. If you ever get genital warts someday (which happens to 15-25% of all people), almost certainly it will be from some other sexual exposure, not this one. Don&#x27;t worry about it.

: In medicine we are taught to never say never but the cited contact is unlikely to pas genital warts. Resurgence of the warts after removal is rare and the common method of transfer is with exposed warts in place.
