Anxiety help: There is no "best" medication for anxiety because different medications work for different people. It does take 4 to 6 weeks for meds like sertraline to take full effect at a particular dose; sometimes people stop their medications too soon, before they've had a chance to work. There are other medications for anxiety; I would discuss with your doctor. Yoga &amp; meditation/guided imagery help anxiety.

Try to broaden: your view.  Meds are not always the best or only way to treat anxiety.  A menal health professional can teach you some strategies to manage anxiety.  Hypnosis, meditation, lifestyle changes, exercise, etc. all have research to back up their effectiveness and safety.  Peace and good health. Chk dose., Time used: Some patient may experience increase energy or activation early after initiating of txmt. Onset of action usually delayed 2-4 wees. If your dose has been adjusted gradually and the medication is not working with 6 to 8 weeks , it may require a dosege incras or it may not be working at all. In some cases it continues for many years to prevent relapse of symptoms.
Consider re-visiting psychiatrist.

No: If it is making you feel more anxious, perhaps you need to consider something else for your anxiety.  consider a mood stabilizer like abilify (aripiprazole).

YES, you can...: ...But let your doctor know. Some people suffer depression or anxiety problems without having a serotonin deficiency so when they take a drug like prozac, (fluoxetine) which increases serotonin, it creates, rather than resolves "a chemical imbalance". In all fairness, 13 days is not considered an adequate period of time for a "therapeutic trial", but if you feel markedly worse, by all means, stop taking it!

Don't worry: Not at all. The max daily dose is 80mg/day. Also, a pill box may help make it easier to remember.
