i have developed skin tags overnight on my back. i read that covering with duct tape will get rid of them. is this correct?

Not correct: Duct tape is effective for warts but not for skin tags. If you or a friend tie a piece of thread or dental floss tightly around the base of the skin tag, it will shrivel up in a few days and fall off. Keep area clean. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Just get rid of it: these can be removed in about 60 seconds by your doctor in the office. Don't mess around with duct tape.

there is a small red and protruding skin tag in my tear duct. it moves back into the duct when touched but comes out again. will it go away by itself or should i consult with an ophthalmologist?

IfOccurred: Unlikely: Given it has developed, then something is triggering/promoting to skin to overgrow into a tag, though that does not mean any physician understands why: http://goo.gl/Blh6rW. However, that does not mean there is any necessary harm in waiting a while to see if the nasolacrimal duct is not blocked &amp; not infected.

i have a growth below my left lower eyelid, near my tear duct. i thought it was a skin tag at first but it's getting bigger. what should i do?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. If the "growth" has doubled in size since you first noticed it, it would be time to see a doctor to ascertain if removal is warranted.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

which doctor is best for diagnosing a new, painless small white/yellowish "skin tag" on the lower eyelid just under the follicles around the middle of the eye, not near the tear duct? an ophthalmologist or dermatologist? thank you?

Try something better: Don't drink thuja; it's cedar oil and probably bad for you; the homeopathic version is a placebo. Like other irritant oils, it's been used to take of warts (immunomodulator); i'd be very surprised if this touched a skin tag, but some of us doctors remove our own skin tags by tying a tiny thread tight around the base.

Dermasil: Dermasil is used to treat dry skin not to remove skin tags. In our clinic we numb the skin tag and then remove it by scissor excision. Electro cautery can also remove skin tags.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Salicylic acid impregnated pads can be used on skin tags. Place the pad over the skin tag for 24 hours and remove and wash.  Over 1-2 weeks you should spontaneously remove the tag without pain.  Do not use salicylic acid on open wounds/inflamation. Be careful of using the patches on the face or groin.

i have skin tags in both armpits. what's a quick safe way to remove them myself at home? would wart freeze away work? thanks!

Wart freeze: Wart freeze would work. Also can be shaved or cut using sharp scissors after numbing with ice cubes. Tying them with a thread if they are big enough is another option.

I : I would recommend you see a dermatologist who has the right instruments and knowledge (and can make sure it is done in a cosmetically appealing way).
