Varies by patient: If that was your first Depo-Provera shot, you *could* bleed (usually lightly and on and off) for up to 6 months, assuming you take another shot in 3 months.

Unpredictable: The bleeding patterns with depoprovera are unpredictable. For some in takes the period away. For others it causes irregular bleeding. There is no "normal" for Depo-Provera users. The longer you are on it the higher the chance of no periods. Annoying but not dangerous.

Yes: Yes however it can take a long time for some women to return their ovulation to normal after depo. If you are not having regular menses i would see your doctor and have an evaluation for the exact cause.

Wait: Bleeding is a common problem in the first 3-6 months of starting the Depo-Provera shot.  Usually it's a matter of waiting it out, and the bleeding will stop.  Sometimes your doctor may try hormones to help, but usually it just takes time.

Be patient.: Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) can last in your system for up to 18 months.  Make sure to use alternative methods of protection because although you havent hada period yet, its possible to get pregnant.   Make sure you are not already pregnant by doing a urine pregnancy test at home.

Can't assume  that: With DepoProvera, you may have anything from breakthrough bleeding to change in menstrual flow, to no bleeding at all.

Side effet: Unfortunately, heavy bleeding is a side effect of the Depo-Provera progesterone injection. Usually, these symptoms will disappear over the next 3-4 months; however, heavy bleeding is an expected and usual side effect. Please consult your GYN if this does not disappear in the next 4-8 weeks.

Not sure : If you recently stopped Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) then it is common to have irregular periods for several  months. It takes 3-6 months for the cycles to get back to normal. If your periods get long or heavy see your doctor.

Yes: It's been 5 months since your last shot, so definitely should be for the most part out of your system.  The fact that you've had a normal cycle speaks to that as well.
