Not at all: Sorry you're having so much trouble with this. Unfortunately, crannberry juice won't help. Ask about local anesthetic treatments (e.g., lidocaine cream or ointment). Sometimes it's also helpful to sit in a tub or warm water in order to urinate. Hang in there with acyclovir; it should kick in soon. As before, discuss these details with your doctor -- or find an expert in infections or STDs.

Let her pee in tub: If you draw a warm bath and let her sit in the warm water it will relax her pelvic muscles and she can pee in the tub with less pain.Paddling a little clean water over the pee hole is therapeutic &amp; may help the symptoms subside. Try tub showers for a while with a spray nozzle.  Sometimes this set of problems is due to sitting in soapy water that is not rinsed effectively from around the pee hole.

Needs evaluation: This can be a urinary tract infection, a STD, or other issue. Cranberry juice will make the urine more acidic &amp; may suppress germs enough to give transient relief but it will never kill them off. Get checked out before you develop complications.

hi, when i urinate in the morning, i always feel pain on my tip of the penis head. is it normal? it only happens in the morning and i have done urine test, it shows no sign of infections. what should i do? should i drink cranberry juice?

: The penile meatus could be sensitive with a concentrated urine. If that is the case, urine is usually darker in the morning. You can do this test: waking up at 2AM and drink one glass of water. If you do not have pain with the next void, concentrated urine is the culprit. If any structural problem or infection of the genitourinary tract, you will have symptom with voiding throughout the day.

You : You need to see your doctor. Even though some studies have shown that drinking cranberry juice can help prevent urinary tract infections, once you have the infection, you need to be treated with antibiotics. If you are having worsening pain, it may not only be a worsening infection, but it is also important to rule out kidney diseases such as a stone or nephritis or another type of infection such as a yeast infection or sexually transmitted disease. These may need other treatments besides antibiotics or different antibiotics.

Phenazopyridine : Phenazopyridine is a medication that is used for urinary tract pain such as burning, itching, and discomfort caused by infection, trauma, or surgery.  It is not an antibiotic and does not help treat an infection.  If you were given the medication just for pain and are not having pain, then it makes sense that you may not need to take it.  However, your doctor may have had another reason to prescribe it to you that you or i are not aware of.  A good rule of thumb is whenever you are not sure whether you should take a medication prescribed by your doctor, give your doctor a call and let them know your concerns.  Many medications have multiple uses and the safest thing to do is check with your doctor.

That : That is a very good question.  You are right, the Nitrofurantoin is the antibiotic, and the Phenazopyridine is too numb the bladder, and it helps us feel like we don't have to urinate all the time which is caused by the infection.  If you are not having pain, burning, or having to urinate all of the time, then you don't have to keep taking the Phenazopyridine anymore, but definitely keep taking the Nitrofurantoin for the entire period prescribed.

Cranberry juice UTI: Cranberry juice is a very common tool for people with urinary symptoms.

It cannot and will not stain the urine. If you are still having the original symptoms despite using cranberry juice you may need to be seen by your medical advisor.
