Lice: You are the second person to ask this question, so apparently there is information out there that i did not know concerning coconut oil and lice. As i said to previous patient, it wont hurt to try, but lice is very contagious so dont try too long before getting rid.

HEAD LICE: Try the home remedy of coconut milk and vinegar. The last recourse is cutting the hair short.

No: These remedies are not effective for lice. Otc treatments like rid or nix (permethrin) are much more likely to be helpful, and if they don't clear the problem see a physician.

Sure.: Avoid contact with others hair; do not share clothing--especially hats, scarves, hair bows. Do not share combs or brushes. Do not lie on beds, pillows, carpets or stuffed toys of those with head lice. Wash clothes, bed linens, etc with hot water (at least 130*f) & use the high heat drying cycle.  Prophylactic treatment  with otc or prescription medications can also be prudent for head lice control.

Head lice prevention: Don't share lockers or exchange hats or helmets at school, keep all children's headgear in seperate cubbyholes. Have daily scalp inspections of your children at home, make sure the school knows the difference between lice and nits, and that a no-nit policy is antiquated.
