Gonorrhea, usually treated at the same time, is now showing resistance to quinolones, making them less attractive.

Definitely not!: Cipro (ciprofloxacin)floxacin once was used routinely to treat gonorrhea, but many gonorrhea strains are now resistant to it. And cipro (ciprofloxacin) has never been effective for chlamydia. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) definitely should not be used to treat either of these STDs; no matter how much you take, it is not likely to work. Talk with your doctor about getting proper treatment, usually with ceftriaxone, azithromycin, or both. Good luck!

But a single dose is not usually adequate for epididymitis. If under a doctor's care, check back with him or her; or maybe second option from an infectious diseases or STD specialist. Cipro (ciprofloxacin)  is a reasonable treatment for gonorrhea; however, treating Chlamydia with Cipro (ciprofloxacin)floxacin isn't effective.  It frequently results in many treatment failures and relapses.   Doxycycline and Zithromax are the recommended treatment.   Cipro (ciprofloxacin) also isn't effective for Syphilis, HIV, HPV, Herpes, and Trichomonas.   Best wishes!

Doxy yes, cipro?: Doxycycline for 7 days is excellent against chlamydia, one of the preferred treatments. Be sure to take it as prescribed for the full 7 days. Cipro has no effect against chlamydia; maybe you were given a single dose to cover possible gonorrhea (?). (Cipro isn&#x27;t the best choice for gonorrhea, but usually would work.) You can safely take both drugs at the same time.

No: Current cdc recommendations for gonorrhea and chlmydia are a single dose of Ceftriaxone 250 mg (shot) and a single dose of Azithromycin 1g (by mouth). Instead of Azithromycin you could do Doxycycline 100 mg by mouth twice a day for 7 days. Treatment for pelvic inflammatory disease (more severe infection in females) cannot be done in a single dose.
