Probably not: Most products only improve the appearance of the scar but do not totally remove it.

Accepted Answer

Not likely: In a thermal burn, there is the possibility that the pigment secreting cells call melanocytes were damaged from the burn.  Once these cells have died, they do not regenerate on their own, thus leading to a lack of color in that area of the skin.

i burned myself with hot water 7 weeks ago 1 degree , now i have brown marks on my skin, how can i get rid of them , i'm using bio-oil 3 times day.

Hyperpigmentation: Whenever the skin gets irritated or inflamed it will heal lighter than normal or darker than normal.  You usually can't do much to change the color except wait for a few seasons for the skin to correct itself. Keep a nonchemical (physical sunblock like cerave 50 on it to prevent further darkening. Bleaching creams can be used  as well as anti inflammatory creams, but they are best used from md.

is it ok to use bio oil on a healing sunburn on my face to help hydrate because my skin is so dry? aloe does nothing and lotions aren't allowed.

hi, i am having lots of whiteheads on my face and scars also. i started using bio oil for scars. would that be okay for my skin?

No: It is a waste of money and will not reduce your scars. When you control your acne your face will gradually heal. You fail to mention important details. Menst normal? Birth control? Any meds or supplements? If you are not pregnant, your best treatment is probably tretinoin gel/cream and oral spironolactone. A dermatologist will help you.

Myth but use if help: Many of my patients swear by the benefits of tea tree or bio-oil and so i generally don't dissuade them but there is very little science to support its use. It is probably the massage, (which we know helps scars)  that is used to apply the oil, which is actually providing the improvements observed. Massage with any clean oil 3-4 times a day. Silicon gel trips are more likely to improve the scar.

is it safe to use bio oil on top of retin-a at night ? because i know bio oil evens skin tone and retin-a helps with acne, so is it safe ?

No: If you have acne, bio oil may contribute to more.  I would use an oil free non comedogenic moisturized like cerave lotion.

Show it to your doc: As pregnancy progresses, fluid may accumulate in tissues, usually in the feet, ankles, and legs, causing them to swell and appear puffy. This condition is called edema and it is common and will resolve. Your itchy rash on your feet on the other hand, is a concern and should be discussed with your doctor.
