May be placebo: About 30% of the symptoms in many instances are susceptible to placebo effect. If it helps, you may keep at it as it will not do any harm.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Check Vit B12 level : Before you take Vit B12 supplements, you should have a level checked to see if indeed you are deficient.

Get 2nd opinion: B12 isn't really the best thing for weight loss. I'd ask another physician to review what's been done by the physician who's been doing the injections.

But a general approach might include EEG, sleep study, screen of your current medications, visit to psychologist, and blood studies would include B-12, Methyl-melonic acid, homocysteine, TSH, RPR. HIV, and general blood survey to check liver and kidney functions,

Not B12: Glad you're concerned. Look for some other explanation for your symptoms, which don't suggest B12 deficiency anyway -- this is more about numbness and weakness reflected in abnormal gait, and slowing of mentation. Keep getting checked. BEst wishes.

Yes.: Pernicious anemia is the most common reason for unexpected B12 deficiency. Lack of B12 can cause both anemia and neurological damage.  The latter includes numbness, gait problems, and dementia.  The neurological findings can occur before there is any anemia, or vice versa.  The anemia will reverse with treatment.  The neurologic problems may not correct completely with B12 treatment.

To get to the truth the kid needs a thorough history and physical including symptom profile, duration, past treatment efforts.Travel history and exposures are important. This can start the process of focusing further lab or testing to come up with a diagnosis.

?vascular dementia: 1. Get the vitamin B-12 into normal range with injections.  2. He may have had small strokes which need to be prevented with medication.  3. Could have Alzheimer's.   Any of above separately or together could affect memory and behavior.   A neurologist can help.
