i need a covid test. i feel ill, i'm weak, my body is painfull, especially my lower spine. i'm feverish. my temp is 39 even after panado and aspirin. i started coughing last night, dry cough but my body has progressively aching since friday?

is it true adults should not take aspirin with a fever? i am 48 and have a fever and am also on an aspirin a day regimen

Aspirin : Aspirin has been used for over 100 years to treat fever.  Even though it is no longer considered "first-line" treatment for fever now that we have acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and Naproxen (fewer side-effects), Aspirin is still effective and relatively safe for adults.  In large doses, it can be toxic to the liver and increase the risk of stomach bleeding and ulcers, so do not take more than directed.  Children and adolescents should not take Aspirin because of a rare illness called reye's syndrome in which Aspirin coupled with a viral illness can lead to encephalitis and fatty liver disease.  If you have any specific questions about Aspirin and it's long term effect on chronic health issues, you should contact your doctor to discuss.

Accepted Answer

No: Aspirin is not recommended for children any more, except under very special circumstances.  Giving Aspirin along with certain viral illnesses can have a life threatening complication called reye's syndrome. Give your baby Acetaminophen (tylenol), then see your doctor if the fever persists.

what's the difference between aspirin and paracetamol ? which is better for headaches or fever?

Two different meds: Aspirin belongs to the family of non-steroidal antiinflammatory medications that are know to be fever reducers, pain relievers, and inflammation killers. Paracetamol is a stand alone medication in its class and works as a fever reducer and a pain killer. Their mechanism of action is different. Both can work on headache and fever and can be used alternatively. Aspirin is known to irritate GI tract.

Aspirin : Aspirin is not typically used for children with a fever because it can cause some problems with the liver (reye's syndrome) in rare cases.  Typically, Ibuprofen (advil) or Acetaminophen (tylenol) are used.  Discussing the options with a pharmacist can be helpful, and they can recommend exact dosing based on your childs weight.

One day should: Be fine for aspirin, or alka-seltzer, not sure what kind of cold medicine you consumed, but generally after  one day most of those common drugs would be out of your system, enjoy your baby

twice now after being cleared for surgery (bad cold) i have now had twice a sudden shaking and fever. with dose of aspirin and w water it goes but is scary ..what could be thecause?

Recurrent : Recurrent fevers with rigors (chils) can be caused by bacterial or viral infections.  This can depend on a patient's other health care history, prior surgeries, any prosthetic valves or joints, and even on their travel history.  Be sure to share this history with your doctor so that they can be sure you don't have any complications from your surgery.
