See below: Do not take alka seltzer for heart burn.  It contains Aspirin that can irritate and inflame the stomach and make heart burn worse.  You can take antacids.  Get checked out for a hiatal hernia and gastroesopheal reflux.

i've had a headache all day, i took alka seltzer heartburn 1 hour ago to see it it helped, but it didn't. should i take an advil, and my xanax (alprazolam) later?

Tylenol (acetaminophen) and. Xanax: Take one dose of 1000 mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) with your xanax now. If this does not help in 2 hours take 600 mg of advil. In the meanwhile take a relaxing bath by candlelight and listen to any soft relaxing music you have. Keep your eyes closed and focus only on the music candid breathing out with. Your mouth open but your lips slightly pursed. Feel the relaxation as it moves from the top of head to toes.

Reduces acid: Heart burn is caused by stomach acid burning the cells in the esophagus. Tums and Alka seltzer contian bicarbonate, (sodium bicarbonate) a base which chemically neutralizes the acid, reducing the burning sensation.

UTI and Alka Seltzer: In a single word "no". Antibiotics are used to treat the bacteria that cause uti's and alka seltzer is not an antibiotic. As it may cause the urine to be less acidic, making easier for bacteria to multiply in the bladder, do not use it to treat a uti. See a doctor and have her prescribe the appropriate antibiotic after a urine is sent off to be cultured.

What R U treating?: Oscillococcinum is a homeopathic preparation claimed to be made from the (non-existent) "oscillococcus" bacterium, which is marketed to relieve influenza-like symptoms. It is actually derived from duck liver &amp;heart, diluted to 200C—a ratio of one part duck offal to 10400 parts water. Alka-Seltzer is a combo of sodium bicarbonate, aspirin, citric acid. Probably okay together, but what's your goal?
