i am taking azithromycin for cough and cold. but it now working .. its 3rd day and no effect.. can i take amoxicillien ?

Won't work: Coughs and colds are caused primarily by viruses, and no virus responds to any antibiotic. That's why the problem hasn't been helped by azithro and also why amoxicillin or any other antibiotic won't help either. Like almost all viral respiratory infections, it will clear up on its own in a few days. Discuss with your doctor if it coninues more than another week or so.

Need better symptom: How many days before seen the Dr. the symptoms started? Do you smoke, in the past ? many packs/day, x years, if so you need to quit. Did started with: Fever, cough, chest pain, sputum, color green, yellow, wheezing, short of breath, foul smell,  You will require a new CXR, a CT of the chest with contrast, to asses the extent of the problem, and be certain you have pneumonia.  Write back

Flu like symptoms: COVID 19 screening is suggested, stay home, self isolate until evaluated. 
The pulmonary bleeding must be evaluated, but if the nasal passage are inflamed, the source may be non pulmonary as well. Continue the medication, use Tylenol for fever, avoid Motrin until test negative (it has been associated with worsening in COVID 19). The chest radiograph indicates a possible pneumonia. ED for distress.

Differential: A cough for two weeks can be from a variety if causes, ranging from a viral illness to reflux and/or a post nasal drip.  Azithromycin not surprisingly did nothing and most over the counter cough suppressants are not very helpful.  If the cough is bothersome and not getting better, it may be time to see your physician.

if azithromycin does not work for persistent cough what is the alternative?

: The alternative has to be the result of having a possible diagnosis or cause for the cough. From reflux to allergies and or post viral due to inflammation among the most common, heart or lung disease may be involved as well. See your doc in follow up, imaging may be needed.

ive been prescribed austell azithromycin as i have a mucus cough during my current positive covid case. i was just reading the leaflet and side fevers seem quite harsh. should i be concerned ?

COVID 19: I am assuming you were prescribed the antibiotic due to concerns that you might have a secondary bacterial infection. Most people are able to tolerate the use of Azithromycin even though they might experience some side effects. Encourage you to discuss your specific concerns with your pharmacist. Take care.

You are on maximum: treatment!!!!  It sounds like you may have "asthmatic bronchitis" a nasty, prolonged condition which is very difficult to treat. BE PATIENT and take the prescribed medications religiously!!! If this persists beyond two weeks you should see a Pulmonologist for a workup  which may involve Pulmonary Function testing and a Chest X ray!
